having a baby?

prenatal pilates

Prenatal Pilates is a wonderful way to embrace the physical and mental changes that come along with pregnancy. A regular practice can help to relieve many of the discomforts of pregnancy as well as provide a healthy emotional outlet. We offer private and duet (2-person) prenatal Pilates instruction. If you are interested in duets, we ask that you bring your own partner.

In your sessions, you and your instructor will focus on:

  • improving strength through prenatal Pilates repertoire
  • Finding your healthy flexibility with stability in mind
  • Exploring ways to support your lower back, reduce back pain and increase energy.

Other benefits of a regular practice often include:

  • Improved digestion and alleviating morning sickness
  • Increased circulation
  • Stress relief
  • Strengthening & releasing important muscles needed during childbirth
  • Shortening postpartum recovery time, giving you more energy to bond with your baby!

We welcome mamas-to-be of all levels and stages of pregnancy. However, please have your Midwife or Physician’s consent before joining this, or any other fitness program during pregnancy.

just had a baby?

postpartum pilates

Postpartum Pilates is a must for any new mama ready to rebalance and recharge. Taking an hour out each week, just for you, to reconnect with your body during this very special time can be so helpful as you navigate new mamahood.

We offer postpartum private Pilates sessions, or, if you have a new mama friend ready to join you, duets (2-person) sessions are a great option as well.

Your postpartum private or duet sessions center around:

  • Rehabilitating and strengthening your core, pelvic floor and postural muscles
  • Promoting good body awareness and posture while lifting and carrying your new baby (and all that baby gear!)
  • Diastasis healing and recovery
  • Increasing back and arm strength for bending over and lifting your growing baby
  • Relieve common new-mama aches and pains
  • Shedding some extra weight, creating a trimmer and sleeker silhouette over time
  • Giving you some tools to take home for a simple and effective home practice
  • Learning to release tension and stress

Pre-requisites

6-weeks postpartum to 6 years – it’s never too late to return to your body! If you are newly postpartum, please have your Doctor’s consent before starting this, or any other fitness program, and please confirm from your Doctor that you do not have Diastasis Recti (separation of the abdominal muscles) of more than two fingers wide.

Group Classes

We currently do not have a prenatal or postpartum class or series on our schedule. If you are interested in joining a group only, please contact us to be but on our list for our next offered group. Or, if you have a group of 3 or more friends and would like to create your own class, let us know and we can work with you to make that happen.

We welcome mamas-to-be of all levels and stages of pregnancy. However, please have your Midwife or Physician’s consent before joining this, or any other fitness program during pregnancy.

♥ Love

Pilates Heights is a neighborhood gem and more!

The bright, upstairs studio is small, but they have all the equipment you could want or need. More importantly, they have excellent instructors

Awesome! Great group of teachers. I have joint a couple of years ago. Had to stop a few month for personal reasons and missed the weekly sessions greatly.
Finally back and starting to feel strong again.

I came here once a week for about a year after a car accident left me with a lot of back pain. Elizabeth was a great instructor and was so consistently kind.
This studio is such a nice part of a nice neighborhood!
